Adobe is going to scrap their hard copies (disks) for their software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Flash), and have you pay a subscription for the latest software called the Adobe Creative Cloud. $50 per month. Could you really afford such an expense in the long run?

This is really disturbing. Please hear what he has to say, it really is a serious situation for working artists. Pass this along so others may know about the Adobe Creative Cloud and how horrible it is.

Yep… Just went to see how much Flash costs. You know, to just buy the program? Guess what? After spending a while looking, it appears that you CAN’T anymore. You have to pay an outrageous subscription fee. I hate adobe. Is there a petition going around to stop this nonsense? Because I want to sign it.

Today I just signed the petition in the voice against the Adobe Creative Cloud. For those who are not familiar with what the new Creative Cloud can do to you as an artist, I really suggest you watch this video.

For those who have seen, reblogged, faved, here’s the link (as shown in the previous reblog) to sign the petition. Anything can happen, Adobe really needs to know that many artists are not supportive of them controlling not just the software..but the content worked on the Cloud.

Signed! Boosting the signal, I prefer to be able to buy my software.

No one can fucking afford to pay monthly shit as is loke internet and you are essentially required to use AT LEAST photoshop in most major art business fields and since theres no other competitive program just as good that businesses can use then this is a huge slap to the face. Fuck that noise. I cant afford to have a phone with internet for even 50$ a month at the average for most features.
Most of the world is having some pretty shitty money issues as is. While expected to pay for more things that didnt exist a few decades ago while making less money to compensate for that. Unless youre fucking rich by some other means then by all means go ahead and pay whatevrr you want. But seeing as most arent and require the programs to work and pay for, etc the cycle of money.

This video is full of slippery slope arguments and assertions. Ah, I hate when people do have some legitimate concerns but blow them up by pretending like it’s 1984 for no good reason. What a fear-mongering asshole.

Looking at the pro and cons of the creative cloud, I’m actually looking very much forward to moving my work to the cloud. A

It provides a constant updating and maintenance service, you can log on to any computer with the software installed and have ALL your preferences and tools ready. You have access to all apps, which opens up a lot of new creative possibilities unhindered by money concerns. You are not required to be online to work. Adobe offers Networking tools for multiply users of the cloud to realize awesome projects together.

I realize it’s a tough monthly expense and I think they should have gone waaay below that, but ask yourself… don’t you make the money you earn with those products?

Companies need to evolve and Adobe is doing it right there. And just looking at the new model and then going all crazy because “I can guarantee Adobe will abuse it’s power”, is silly. We are not just getting a new business model, we get new benefits as well.

Also Adobe products are not “required” to work with. Yes, they are very widespread and popular, but that’s for a good reason… they rock. If you don’t want to go with Adobe once the Cloud is here, fine, there are many illustrators and designers who work with alternative software, from Corel for example.

Be open minded, but don’t pretend Adobe is taking something from you. They just changed how they give something to you.

You can also just buy CS6 indefinitely from them without Creative Cloud if you’re that worried about it, since they’ll still be selling that.
